Two vehicle crash in Cleckheaton.

Two vehicles were involved in a collision on Bradford road at the Junction of Hardcastle street in Cleckheaton last night (05/04/14).

The crash involving 2 vehicles a Subaru and a Fiat Punto occurred at around 8:10pm. This was a severe collision but nobody appeared to be trapped in the vehicles. The Subaru came to rest near Chapel Street where it was abandoned.

A fire crew attended from Cleckheaton station and were required to make one of the vehicles safe.

The Fiat Punto had severe front end damage, debris was spread accross the road which was closed for a short time while Police and Ambulance crews dealt with the injured and cleared the scene.

Large Fire in Ossett mill overnight

A three storey mill in Ossett is in danger of collapse today following a fire which began last night.

The fire was reported at about 10.45pm yesterday (03/04/2014) at the old Fudge jeans factory on Queen Street. Crews from Ossett were first on the scene and immediately asked for assistance. 

Supporting appliances from six stations attended to assist fighting the three-storey mill blaze. Local residents described the scene as spectacular as the fire raged through the property. 
Fire crews were unable to enter the building due to the dangerous conditions at the time and used defensive firefighting tactics. Crews used Large jets , Ground monitors and an Aerial Ladder Platform to attack the fire.

Crews are still at the incident damping down hotspots and roads through Ossett have been closed by police, from the top of Bank Street to Ossett Green.
Ossett’s watch commander Paul Graham, who was first on the scene, said: “The fire was over three storeys and a basement, it was an old mill with wooden floorboards.The mill is almost destroyed and is today in danger of collapse. An engineer will be attending to check the strucure.

Fire crews from Ossett, Dewsbury, Mirfield, Hunslet, Elland, Batley, Wakefield, Morley attended, with further crews as reliefs during the night.

 A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the mill was occupied by a clothing company called Fudge Jeans

Elderley person suffers smoke inhalation in severe Birkenshaw House Fire.

Fire Crews responded to a House fire on Bradford road, Birkenshaw just after 07:50hrs this morning. When crews arrived they found a severe fire at the rear of the property on the ground floor. Two breathing apparatus crews used 4 B/a sets and 2 Hosereel jets to tackle the fire.

An ambulance was required for an elderley male casualty who had suffered from smoke inhalation, after being attended to at the scene he was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Fire appliances were sent from Cleckheaton and Batley to the incident where Positive Pressure Ventilation Fans were used to clear smoke from the houses. Crews could be seen checking adjoining homes to confirm that the fire hadn't  spread.
