Car passenger cut free in M62 smash

Two lanes of the M62 westbound were closed this afternoon whilst the emergency services dealt with a 2 car crash. One vehicle a Ford KA had been left on it's side as a result  of the smash. The other a Ford possibly a Focus had to have the roof removed in order to extricate the female occupant.

Fire crews from Brighouse, Elland and Cleckheaton attended the incident at around 12:50 today (25/04/2015). The incident was between junctions 26 at Chain Bar and 25 Brighouse. Ambulance paramedics along with ambulance crews, Police and Highways agency also attended the scene.

Fire crews well rehearsed in extraction techniques worked with paramedics until the casualty was removed safely from the vehicle on a back board to an awaiting ambulance.

Fire crews made the vehicles safe. Traffic built up on the approach to the accident from Junction 27 however a full road closure was not required and a steady flow was maintained throughout the incident.

Serious Collision closes M606 Northbound in Bradford morning rush-hour

A Major collision on the M606 this morning brought traffic to a standstill. Fire crews along with Ambulance and Police were called to the scene this morning at around 07:15 (17/04/2015). The crash involved 4 vehicles with most casualties being walking wounded.

The carriageway was littered with debris after the crash and the fire service used their appliances to seal off the road until the Police arrived.

One woman suffered head injuries and was taken to Leeds general infirmary whilst another casualty was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary for a check up.

Fire crews made the scene safe and police took over at the scene. The carriageway remained closed for 2 hours until the scene could be cleared and lanes opened. The road was fully open again by 10:15am.

Fire crews from Bradford, Odsal and Cleckheaton with the Major Rescue Unit were mobilised to this incident. As part of the investigation into the collision Police would like anyone with information about it to contact them on the Police 101 number

Suspected Arson at Severe house fire in Great Horton, Bradford

Fire crews were called to Permberton Drive in Great Horton area of Bradford last night at 22:23hrs (07/04/2015) to a house fire. On arrival the fire crews were faced with a serious developing fire which was likely to spread to adjoining properties.

Bradford and Odsal Crews quickly got to work with the the assistance of an appliance from Fairweather Green. Families from adjoining properties were evacuated whilst the fire was dealt with the blaze.

Reports now suggest that the fire could be an arson attack on the premises. Crews used four Large jets, one hosereel jet, four Breathing apparatus sets, Positive pressure ventilation fans and the aerial appliance from Bradford (CARP).

Crowds of local people gathered to watch the incident unfold. Fire investigations are still ongoing and damping down is likely to continue today

Man dies in Wibsey house fire, Bradford

An elderly man has died in a sever house fire at his Wibsey home. At 5.31pm yesterday (Sunday 05/04/2015)  fire  crews were called to the scene in Croft Street just of the High Street in Wibsey.

Local people who saw the fire, rushed to try and enter the house from the rear of the property but were beaten back by flames. When fire crews arrived the ground floor of the house was well alight. 

Fire crews were soon able to enter the house and found the 68 year old man inside. Police report that an investigation into the fire has started but at this stage does not appear suspicious. The fire has left the local neighborhood in shock.
Appliances from Bradford and Odsal attended the scene along with Police and the Ambulance service. High Street was closed off for a time whilst the incident was dealt with.

Building Fire in Dewsbury Town Centre

Parts of Bradford Road leading onto Northgate in Dewsbury were closed this afternoon 04/04/2015 after a fire in a building. The top floor of the property was well alight when fire crews from Dewsbury station first arrived.

The fire was made up to 3 Pumps and an Aerial with the extra resources coming from Batley and Wakefield. Fire crews were swift in tackling the fire which looked as if it could spread to the rest of the businesses in the multi occupancy building. Firefighters entered the building in Breathing apparatus using a Hosereel to help stop the fire spreading whilst other crews used 2 Large jets from outside.

Appliances attended from Dewsbury (2), Batley(1) and Wakefields Carp. The fire appears not to be suspicious and no persons have been involved or injured at the scene
