HGV fire on M62 Junction 26 Eastbound

Appliances and crews dealing with the HGV fire

Crews were called to a HGV on fire this afternoon at around 4:45pm which had stopped just before the M62 Eastbound at its junction with the M606. First reports were of a wheel on fire but due to its severity the cab of the HGV tractor unit also became involved.

B/A wearer and 1 Hosereel jet in use

Appliances from Brighouse, Cleckheaton and Odsal fire stations attended the scene. 

Fire crews managed to prevent the fire spreading to the trailer unit.

Fire crews and the HGV driver inspect the damaged cab

Police and Highways officers attended to close 2 lanes of the motorway during the firefighting operations, for officer safety and traffic management. There was heavy traffic congestion at the height of the fire which took some time to clear.
