Large Fire at Industrial site in Bradford this morning

The fire at Enviro Wipes, Hammerton Street Bradford,  was attended by fire crews from across the county after the alarm was raised around 07:30 Hrs this morning. Bradford crews were called to the site and first to arrive at the scene. 

On arrival black smoke was pouring from the building and 2 lorries parked inside had to be removed. One of the lorries did suffer some fire damage and fire crews drove it out of the smoke filled warehouse.

Further assistance was required and this fire was made up to 10 pumps plus supporting appliances. Roller shutter doors were accessed by using metal cutters in order to enter the building and surround the fire,  an aerial jet was also used.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus entered the building and removed cages containing products and dealt with the internal fire. 

The fire was in the laundry area of the industrial unit which was badly affected by fire, with other parts of the building suffering from smoke damage. Fire fighters used 13 Breathing apparatus sets, 2 Large jets, Carp monitor and 1 Hosereel jet.

No one was working in the premises at the time of the fire and there are no reported injuries. Fire investigation teams are at the site attempting to establish the cause of the fire.

Appliances from Bradford, Fairweather Green, Idle, Odsal, Shipley, Cleckheaton, Stanningley, Rawdon, Morley, Bingley and Pontefract attended along with senior officers and advisors.

Fire crews recover man from Spen River early today

Fire crews from Cleckheaton including the Technical rescue team were called at around 6:45 am today (07/06/2016) to reports of a man in the River Spen , Cleckheaton. They had to search the area and found a male in the water under the viaduct near to an area called Mann Dam

A local man said that he had assisted the fire service with a male casualty who had appeared to have fallen from height and landed in the river. The male casualty was unconscious but alive he told me. 

Paramedics and Technical Rescue crews gave treatment at the scene and then the casualty was taken by ambulance to hospital. The area under the Viaduct was sealed off as a crime scene until the facts of the incident are made known. It is thought that the man had jumped off the Mann Dam viaduct.

This location has been the scene of many suicides over recent years.

Fire crews were called to the Fast Car Clinic near the Arcadia Garage at about 8 pm yesterday evening (05/06/2016). Fire crews quickly dealt with the fire in the garage premises off Ingelby Road in Bradford which was believed to contain cylinders. A ground monitor was used and the area cordoned off by police whilst the incident was dealt with. Nearby homes are also reported to have been evacuated. Four fire crews attended from Fairweather Green, Idle, Odsal and Shipley.

Fairweather Green Watch Commander Richard Lightowler said: "We used a ground monitor after being told there were cylinders being kept in the garage and thought one of them was acetylene which would have caused us a massive problem, but it turned out it wasn't so we were able to scale down our operations, we could have had a major incident on our hands." The roads were reopened just over an hour later.

This was the fire scene at around 19:00 at the Aireworth Road site

                          





Crews were alerted at around 6.30 pm tonight to a building fire at Stockbridge Tyres in the mill complex off Aireworth Road in the town.  On arrival the property was well alight and assistance was required making this incident up to eight pumps and 1 Aerial appliance. 

The fire involved a multi use garage approximately  80m x 20m , covering two floors. There was exposure risks on the site and these look to have been saved.

Halifax CARP arrives at incident in Aireworth Road

The incident was sectorised with most of the firefighting taking place in defensive mode. Two Ground Monitors with two Large jets with two CARP appliances being used as water towers. 
Appliances, from Keighley, Ilkley, Bingley, Shipley, Idle, Rawdon, Fairweather Green, Bradford and Halifax attended. Supervisory officers along with the Command Unit Light and Welfare Unit also arrived at the scene

Police attended and closed off Aireworth Road to traffic but left room for pedestrians to access its full length along the footpath. 

Graham Ambler, West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service group manager, paid tribute to the first crews on the scene. He said their prompt actions helped prevent the fire spreading to adjoining businesses.

The firefighters used a water 'curtain' to stop the flames spreading to the units either side and Group Manager Ambler said "They did a fantastic job and deserve huge credit".

Update!!!  One CARP appliance and a pump remained at the scene overnight damping down and investigations into the cause of the fire are now underway.

Timber alight in rear yard of Morley Carr Business Centre, Bradford

Crews from Odsal supported by Bradford attended a fire at Morley Carr Business Centre, Morley Carr Road, Bradford around 06:30 this morning (04/06/2016). The fire involved a stack of timber in a rear yard of the premise. Crews used 2 jets and water was shuttled to the fireground from a nearby hydrant on Markfield Avenue.

Firefighters were involved pulling out the stack and damping down for some time.
