Large Fire at Industrial site in Bradford this morning


The fire at Enviro Wipes, Hammerton Street Bradford,  was attended by fire crews from across the county after the alarm was raised around 07:30 Hrs this morning. Bradford crews were called to the site and first to arrive at the scene.

On arrival black smoke was pouring from the building and 2 lorries parked inside had to be removed. One of the lorries did suffer some fire damage and fire crews drove it out of the smoke filled warehouse.

Further assistance was required and this fire was made up to 10 pumps plus supporting appliances. Roller shutter doors were accessed by using metal cutters in order to enter the building and surround the fire,  an aerial jet was also used.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus entered the building and removed cages containing products and dealt with the internal fire.

The fire was in the laundry area of the industrial unit which was badly affected by fire, with other parts of the building suffering from smoke damage. Fire fighters used 13 Breathing apparatus sets, 2 Large jets, Carp monitor and 1 Hosereel jet.

No one was working in the premises at the time of the fire and there are no reported injuries. Fire investigation teams are at the site attempting to establish the cause of the fire.

Appliances from Bradford, Fairweather Green, Idle, Odsal, Shipley, Cleckheaton, Stanningley, Rawdon, Morley, Bingley and Pontefract attended along with senior officers and advisors.
