Fire crews were called to the fire at around 2.15pm this afternoon on Green Lane in Featherstone. The incident was reported by local residents to have occurred as a welder was using his equipment inside the shop when the fire broke out. Crews from Normanton, Castleford and Pontefract attended.

| Breathing apparatus control set up at safe distance |
Due to cylinders inside the 2 storey premise crews used defensive mode to put out the fire. Firefighters used 3 Ground Monitors and 4 Breathing apparatus sets. An exclusion zone was set up due to the presence of the cylinders and police set up a cordon.
