Pensioner badly injured in Stourton Crash !!


Emergency services at the scene
Emergency services attended the scene on Pontefract Road at Stourton just before 11:00 am this morning (06/02/2015), this was a Road Traffic Collision where a HGV had run into the back of a Vauxhall Zafira.

Local information would suggest that the car had broken down and was awaiting recovery when the smash happened.

The occupant of the vehicle a 76 year old male had to be freed by firefighters. A West Yorkshire Fire Service spokesman said that the vehicle was badly crushed and that the casualty suffered from suspected neck and back injuries, he was taken to Leeds General Infirmary.
Investigations under way by Police
The road was closed by the Police whilst the incident was dealt with. There is no information about the condition of the Volvo HGV driver.
