Latest!!! Man arrested after Arson attack at Mirfield Home

A Mirfield house has been completely gutted following a fire yesterday evening (Sunday 08/11/2015). It has since been announced that the fire is being treat as arson and confirm that the property was empty at the time of the fire.

Fire crews were called to the scene at around 6:00 pm yesterday with appliances from Mirfield (1), Dewsbury (1), Raistrick (1), Cleckheaton (1) and the CARP from Huddersfield attending the address in West Royd Park off Knowle Road, Mirfield.

A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “When we arrived, it was well alight, it had broken through the roof and the property became 100 per cent involved. “The house has been completely gutted.”

Firefighters used an aerial platform and three large jets to tackle the blaze and cleared the scene by 10 pm.

A 41 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson at the address on West Royd Park on Sunday evening.  The man has not been named at this time but Det Insp Ian Thornes of Kirklees CID said: “A 41-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this incident.”
