Latest!!! Man arrested after Arson attack at Mirfield Home

A Mirfield house has been completely gutted following a fire yesterday evening (Sunday 08/11/2015). It has since been announced that the fire is being treat as arson and confirm that the property was empty at the time of the fire.

Fire crews were called to the scene at around 6:00 pm yesterday with appliances from Mirfield (1), Dewsbury (1), Raistrick (1), Cleckheaton (1) and the CARP from Huddersfield attending the address in West Royd Park off Knowle Road, Mirfield.

A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “When we arrived, it was well alight, it had broken through the roof and the property became 100 per cent involved. “The house has been completely gutted.”

Firefighters used an aerial platform and three large jets to tackle the blaze and cleared the scene by 10 pm.

A 41 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson at the address on West Royd Park on Sunday evening.  The man has not been named at this time but Det Insp Ian Thornes of Kirklees CID said: “A 41-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this incident.”

Update!!! Dewsbury Auction house fire caused by Cannabis Plant Production

Dewsbury Auctions was a long-established family firm set up by Oscar Crow in 1947. It continued to be run by the Crow family until the business closed around two years ago, since when the building has remained empty. 

The fire on Sunday (19/07/2015) has been reported as being caused by a Cannabis Plant Production operation inside the property. It was discovered by firefighters as they entered the building on Sunday evening to dampen down the scene of the fire.

The Building on fire was close to nearby houses and close residents were asked to leave their homes, whilst those further from the fire were told to keep windows closed.

All the firefighting was done from outside the building due to it's dangerous condition, with debris falling from the roof structure. The image shows the CARP appliance from Huddersfield tackling the fire from above.

House Fire in Odsal, Bradford


Crews were called to a house fire at Pearson Road West, Odsal around 19:05hrs today (04/05/2014).
On arrival crews found that the 1st floor of the large detached property was well alight.This was attended by three appliances, two from Bradford and one from Odsal.

Breathing apparatus teams were deployed to locate the fire using 1 Hosereel jet and 2 Breathing apparatus sets. Positive pressure ventilation fans were also used once the fire was under control to clear the property of smoke.

The cause of the fire is at present being investigated by both the Fire and Police investigation teams who were both on the scene

Elderley person suffers smoke inhalation in severe Birkenshaw House Fire.

Fire Crews responded to a House fire on Bradford road, Birkenshaw just after 07:50hrs this morning. When crews arrived they found a severe fire at the rear of the property on the ground floor. Two breathing apparatus crews used 4 B/a sets and 2 Hosereel jets to tackle the fire.

An ambulance was required for an elderley male casualty who had suffered from smoke inhalation, after being attended to at the scene he was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Fire appliances were sent from Cleckheaton and Batley to the incident where Positive Pressure Ventilation Fans were used to clear smoke from the houses. Crews could be seen checking adjoining homes to confirm that the fire hadn't  spread.
