Fire at Carpet Factory in Liversedge near Heckmondwike

Fire crews were alerted to the fire at Heckmondwike Fibre Bonding (Carpets), Huddersfield Road, Millbridge, Liversedge at around 01:45 this morning. 
The building is on a site between Huddersfield road and Wormald Street in the town. The large fire could be seen around the area as smoke billowed from the factory premise.

Additional crews were requested and appliances attended from around the brigade area.Ten pumps, an aerial appliance and other specialist equipment attended when the fire was at its peak.
It took probably an hour to 90 minutes to bring the fire under control, even with all those resources.
The large, mostly single storey building was well alight when the first firefighters arrived with the fire coming through the roof of the property.

Along with the mill building a large open area was also involved at the rear of the premise, an area of waste carpets stored in the yard.

The building is described as being around 100m x 20m in size and has been completely destroyed by the blaze. At its height fire crews were using 3 Large jets, 2 Ground monitors and an Aerial Ladder Platform monitor.



Appliances from Cleckheaton, Batley, Dewsbury, Odsal, Morley, Hunslet, Mirfield and Bradford attended along with supporting appliances. A fire service welfare unit also attended the scene. Police closed surrounding roads due to hoses and appliances blocking them.

The building is a total loss. The roof has collapsed and the walls have partially collapsed.
Investigations into the cause of the blaze continues today.

Updated !! Scrap Yard Blaze at Tong

Crews were called at around 06:15hrs to reports of a scrap yard fire involving tyres at Westgate Hill Street, Tong at Bradford. There was a well developed fire on arrival and further assistance was required. Appliances from Odsal, Bradford, Leeds, Morley, Cleckheaton, Fairweather Green, Batley and Stanningley attended.
A water shortage due to pressure in the mains was an issue and so a Hose Layer vehicle was asked for.

Fire crews have worked in a defensive mode surrounding the fire using ground monitors and lashed hand held jets, A 200m exclusion zone is in place as acetelyene cylinders are involved, some of which have already been removed with early intervention

Evacuations of local residents was undertaken to ensure safety of the public around the incident site.

The incident has now been scaled down and reduced to 4 pumps damping down and making area safe.

Breaking !!!!!! 8 Appliances attend Bradford Blaze in derelict property

Fire crews were called about 2.30pm today to the old Lumb Humphries building on Priestman Street, Bradford. The derelict property was well alight when crews arrived and pumps were made six and and an Aerial appliance was required.

This two storey building was approx 30m x 10m in size and a total of 5 large jets, 1 Aerial jet and Breathing apparatus were in use at one stage. Appliances were called in from as far as Elland, Wakefield and Rawdon to help tackle the fire.

Damping down at the incident continues and appliances and the Command Unit are still in attendance at the scene.
