07:00 Update!!! Moorland Fire Baitings Reservoir, Rochdale Road, Ripponden



12:25 06 May 2013 Netherwood Lane, Marsden.
Moorland Fire MP x 6 Incident. Approximately 120 metres x 100 metres of moorland on fire. Crews used 2 Jets, 1 Fire fogging unit from the Wildfire Unit Todmorden, 1 argocat vehicle and 7 backpacks.
Appliances from Huddersfield, Meltham, Elland, Illingworth and Slaithwaite attended, plus the Wildfire Unit and support appliance from Todmorden.  The Logistics Support Unit from Odsal and the Personnel Welfare Unit from Fairweather Green also attended.

Fire crews used beaters to tackle the fire

Moorland fire MP x 4 Incident involving an area of approx. 1000 metres by 500 metres.
Appliances from Illingworth, Brighouse, Holmfirth and Halifax in attendance, plus Wildfire Unit from Keighley.

This Incident is still ongoing with smoke affecting roads in the area. Police are attending with a view to closing some of the roads in the area due to the hazardous conditions

19:30  Update

Appliances are still in attendance with the incident still well alight and crews attempting to prevent the fire spreading to unaffected areas of the moor. Once again a helicopter is being used to assist in dousing the fire.

Blackstone Edge road has been closed  from Baitings Resevoir due to the fire.

20:45 Update

Appliances in attendance have been made up to 8 for the West Yorkshire side of the incident and 5 from Greater Manchester. The Greater Manchester appliances are tackling the incident from the Littleborough side of the moor.
Turvin Road at Cragg Vale is once again affected. The battle continues....

Update 07:00 08/05 The fire had a 2 Kilometre fire front.  Crews used beaters, back packs, ultra lightweight pumps, Argo Cat, Fire Fogger and water shuttles to deal with the fire.  Crews attended the incident from Mytholmroyd, Todmorden, Halifax, Huddersfield, Mirfield and Skelmanthorpe.  Specialist Wild Fire equipment and Officers were also mobilised, the incident has been reduced to 4 pumps, these appliances will remain on the moorland overnight.
