Fire crews from across the Brigade Area were in action this morning (Saturday 23rd August)as a fire took hold of Ivy Mills, on Mill Lane, Bradford.
Crews were alerted at 07:50hrs and responded initially from Bradford and Odsal stations .
On arrival the building which was well alight required more resources and the Incident was made up to a MP x 10 attendance with 2 Aerial appliances.
Onlookers watched as the fire developed, surrounding roads were closed to allow water to be brought to the incident from Manchester Road and Bolling Road.
Loud bangs could be heard as chemicals stored in the building and parts of the building collapsed internally with roof tiles falling to the ground

Jim Butters, Area manager at West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, said: "It was just impossible to get to the fire inside and it spread across three floors of the building."

Representatives from Bradford Council's building control department will visit the site on Tuesday to assess the future of the building.
It was hoped Nelson Street will be re-opened to traffic later today (Sunday)
ACO Walton attended the incident as a senior advisor to other officers in attendance. The three storey mill was approx 80m x 30m and operations were sectorised.

Crews used an entrance from Ludlam Street to access the Manchester road side of the fire with a CARP and Ground Monitor being used.
Appliances from Bradford, Odsal, Fairweather Green, Idle, Shipley, Bingley, Rawdon, Halifax, Leeds, Brighouse, Elland, Cleckheaton, Batley attended.
