Police were notified at around 2.00pm yesterday (22/12/2014) as strong and gusting winds affected the roof level section of 1 the Interchange, a building which runs along Nelson street opposite the Jacobs Well car park.

Cosmetic cladding around the edge of the building's flat roof had been ripped away by the ferocity of a wind and another was left hanging loose. Bus services had to be diverted on Jacobs Well, Hall Ings and Bridge Street, with police officers blocking both ends of the street
Fire crews returned this morning to assist in securing the structure using lines and sandbags for weight. Crews from Cleckheaton Technical Rescue attended.

The road which had remained closed since yesterday has now been re-opened.
