Fire at Autocare, Garnett street, Bradford, surrounding properties saved during serious blaze

Fire Investigation are trying to find the cause of the MP x 6 during the early hours of today in Garnett Street, Bradford. The alarm was raised at around 2am this morning at the premises of the Autocare Tyre Centre. 



Bradford crews were first to arrive where the building had been well alight. The Incident was made up to 6 pumps and the CARP was used for an aerial attack on the fire. In total 8 Large jets, Carp jet, and 4 Breathing apparatus sets were used. 



There were exposure risks to 3 sides of the building on fire and crews used covering jets to successfully prevent fire spread to these properties. 



Appliances from Bradford (2), Odsal, Shipley, Rawdon, Cleckheaton, Otley (Hose Layer), Fairweather Green, Bingley and Hemsworth along with supporting officers attended.

A command point was set up using the Command Unit Lite from Fairweather Green at the top of Harris street.

Ten Pumps Attend Building Fire, Squire Lane, Bradford

Fire crews were alerted just before 8:00 pm to the fire by ambulance crews who reported flames could be seen from the building in Squire lane near its junction with Duckworth Lane. 

The building, on Squire Lane  was formerly a feeder primary school for the grammar school, but  is now in the hands of a developer who is in the process of converting the building into housing.

The building described as having 3 floors and a basement was well alight when the first crews arrived from Bradford. The Police were at the scene controlling the traffic and Squire lane was eventually closed. Duckworth lane was closed to traffic and diversions put in place.


The fire was brought under control quickly with crews from 10 pumps and supporting appliances using 7 Large jets and numerous breathing apparatus sets. 

Flames did not spread to any part of the grammar school.

Appliances from Bradford (2), Fairweather Green (Pump Command Unit and Welfare Unit), Rawdon (1), Bingley (1), Odsal (1), Idle (1), Shipley (1), Illingworth (1) and Cleckheaton (1) attended with support crews from Mirfield, Pontefract (Pump and Command Unit), Dewsbury (1), 
Cookridge (1) and Stanningley( Hose Layer) . Specialist officers also attended.

Building Fire in Dewsbury Town Centre



Parts of Bradford Road leading onto Northgate in Dewsbury were closed this afternoon 04/04/2015 after a fire in a building. The top floor of the property was well alight when fire crews from Dewsbury station first arrived.

The fire was made up to 3 Pumps and an Aerial with the extra resources coming from Batley and Wakefield. Fire crews were swift in tackling the fire which looked as if it could spread to the rest of the businesses in the multi occupancy building. Firefighters entered the building in Breathing apparatus using a Hosereel to help stop the fire spreading whilst other crews used 2 Large jets from outside.


Appliances attended from Dewsbury (2), Batley(1) and Wakefields Carp. The fire appears not to be suspicious and no persons have been involved or injured at the scene

Man charged with Leeds Majestic Building Fire



Resulting from Tuesday nights fire which destroyed the domed roof of the 1921 grade II-listed building in City Square, Stuart James Jefferson appeared at Leeds Magistrates’ Court this morning (Thursday 02.10.2014) after being charged with arson at the Majestic building in Leeds on the night of the 30th September.
During the ten-minute hearing the 32-year-old, who gave his address as Broadlea Street in Bramley, Leeds, pleaded not guilty.
District Judge Roy Anderson gave him unconditional bail, but the prosecution then immediately appealed the decision. A crown court judge must now decide within 48 hours whether to grant Mr. Jefferson bail.The case will be dealt with at the Crown Court, where the first hearing is due to take place on October 16th.





Further traffic disruptions have taken place today as the remnants of the roof are made safe. Despite the extensive damage, it is believed the building itself is structurally sound and could be restored.

Horncastle Street, Cleckheaton closed due to fire

Cleckheaton fire crews were called at 3.00pm today to a fire at the building on Horncastle Street after reports of a fire above a takeaway in the town. 

This was part of a multi-occupancy building housing Wynsors shoes a taxi firm and takeaway.

On arrival Cleckheaton officer in charge requested a further 3 appliances to attend.

Supporting appliances were sent from Odsal, Batley, and Bradford. The incident was soon under control by firefighters using 2 Hosereel jets, 4 Breathing apparatus sets and a positive pressure ventilation fan.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigations and a crew remains on the scene damping down.

Early Morning call for Featherstone Crews.

Crews were called to CMS Busines Park this morning at around 6 O'clock (01/04) to reports of a building alight on the estate off Station Road at Featherstone. When crews arrived they found the property in Green Lane to be well alight and requested assistance making this a 5 pump attendance along with the Aerial Ladder from Leeds.

The building measured approx 50m x 25m and crews used 3 Large jets, 1 Hosereel jet and 4 firefighters used Breathing Apparatus sets.
Appliances from Featherstone, Pontefract, Castleford, Normanton, Wakefield and Leeds attended.

It has not been confirmed what the building contained at this time however thick black smoke could be seen for some distance at the fires height.
