Horncastle Street, Cleckheaton closed due to fire

Cleckheaton fire crews were called at 3.00pm today to a fire at the building on Horncastle Street after reports of a fire above a takeaway in the town. 

This was part of a multi-occupancy building housing Wynsors shoes a taxi firm and takeaway.

On arrival Cleckheaton officer in charge requested a further 3 appliances to attend.

Supporting appliances were sent from Odsal, Batley, and Bradford. The incident was soon under control by firefighters using 2 Hosereel jets, 4 Breathing apparatus sets and a positive pressure ventilation fan.

Crews damping down at the scene

The cause of the fire is currently under investigations and a crew remains on the scene damping down.
