Empty Building fire in Keighley Bank Holiday Monday


Firefighters have been tackling a fire at a former engineering premises in Keighley.
Crews from across the district went to deal with the incident at the old Rymer Engineering building, in Heber Street at around 15:00hrs.
At it's height flames were leaping through the roof, and there was a pall of smoke over a large part of the town centre.
Fire appliances from Keighley, Haworth, Silsden, Bingley and Bradford attended the scene which at present is being scaled down.

CARP appliance in use

The fire was quickly brought under control using the CARP from Bradford and 3 large jets and Ground monitor. Crews are at present now damping down at the scene.
Fire Control state that the initial fire started in the roof of the building. No injuries are reported at the incident
