City Centre flat fire in Bradford




The fire broke out shortly after 11.30am today (21/05/14) as smoke was seen billowing from the roof of the block of flats on Chain Street, Bradford. Fire police and ambulance crews responded to the scene.

The fire was severe and crews on the initial attendance requested more appliances for the use of Breathing apparatus. The incident was increased to a MP x 5 for the provision of this equipment

Crews were rapidly deployed to tackle the fire which was in a top floor flat of the two storey building.

Female adult and a child were treated by ambulance service, with at least one of those being taken to Hospital suffering from smoke inhalation

Crews use a 135 ladder to access the roof from the rear
Clear damage could be seen to the front and rear of the flat.
The cause of the fire is as yet unknown and fire investigators with police are in attendance.
