Dewsbury Road Leeds, closed as Police investigation after serious crash


Dewsbury road was closed Monday evening (19/05/2014) whilst Fire, Police and Ambulance crews dealt with a serious Road Traffic Collision.

The crash happened just before 6.50pm when a blue Fiat Punto was involved in collision with a shop.

 The incident occurred when a roads policing vehicle tried to stop a Fiat Punto in Dewsbury Road, Beeston. The vehicle made off before losing control a short time later and colliding with parked vehicles and the front of a shop,  Grill and Chill near to the junction with Tempest Road.

The car also in collided with a woman pedestrian who received serious injuries. She was taken to Leeds General Infirmary for treatment. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The driver of the car, a 23-year-old man, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was also injured and taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are also not believed to be life threatening. He has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Fire appliances from Hunslet station attended and released the one trapped male from the car.
