Arson attack, Horses rescued from Farm Fire at Dewsbury Moor

Fire crews from Dewsbury attended Carr Lane, Dewsbury Moor last night just after 7:15pm to a barn fire. The farm which also stabled horses was well alight when fire crews arrived.

The horses were quickly rescued and non were injured. Fire crews used 2 Large jets on the fire and the farmer used his excavator to assist whilst crews dampened the scene down. Fire crews remained for a few hours until the fire was safe to leave.

The fire was contained to the building of origin. Further crews were earlier requested but later returned as the scene was contained.
Appliances from Dewsbury, Batley and Cleckheaton attended.


Inspector Jenny Thompson, of the Dewsbury and Mirfield Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We are investigating following a barn fire in Carr Lane on Saturday evening.
“The fire, which is being treated as arson, caused considerable damage to the roof of the barn and destroyed thousands of pounds worth of hay inside. “Anyone who witnessed this incident or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area around this time is asked to call Dewsbury and Mirfield NPT on 101.”
