The building involved was previously used as a store and auction house, and is part two and part single storey. Dewsbury Auctions was a long-established family firm set up by Oscar Crow in 1947. It continued to be run by the Crow family until the business closed around two years ago, since when the building has remained empty.
The incident was sectorised as crews used 3 Large jets, a Ground Monitor, 2 Breathing apparatus and a jet from the CARP aerial appliance.

Crews will remain tonight to dampen down with a revisit on Monday morning by the structural engineer. The main Huddersfield road will remain closed westbound towards Mirfield until inspections are completed.

Appliances attended from Dewsbury (2), Mirfield (1) and the CARP from Huddersfield station.
