Six Appliances at Waste Recycling site Fire in Dewsbury

Dewsbury Crews initial attendance at the site

Calls were received to mobilising centre at approx 7.00pm yesterday (09/12/13) to the waste recycling site on Weaving Lane, Dewsbury.

This is a household waste storage site and on arrival assistance was required and a MP x 6 and ALP x 1 call was requested.

Crews found smoke issuing from the two storey building which is approx. 75m x 30m in size.

Crews worked hard to fight the blaze inside the property and used 4 Large jets, 2 Ground Monitors, 8 Breathing apparatus sets and Positive Pressure ventilation fans.

At one stage of the incident the TRU from Cleckheaton was required to assist with forcing entry into certain parts of the building.

Police closed off the roads surrounding the fire until they were safe to be reopened. Large amounts of smoke blew from the fire over the Dewsbury area.

Crews are still there today dampening down

Fire crews from Dewsbury, Mirfield, Cleckheaton, Morley, Ossett, Hunslet, Elland, Batley, Huddersfield, and Fairweather Green attended.
