Water Rescue at Brotherton

Fire crews were called this afternoon (22/12/13) as a person threatened to jump from the Railway bridge which crosses the River Aire at Brotherton. Reports were of crews from both West and North Yorkshire Fire services attending.



Fire crews using a rescue boat pulled the person to safety after they jumped into the river. Ambulance crews were on standby and dealt with the casualty after being brought to shore by the rescue services. The male, aged mid 30s, was checked at scene by paramedics, then taken into police custody.
