Trapped Bus driver suffers with leg injuries after multiple vehicle collision on Manchester Road, Bradford

Emergency crews responded to the incident shortly after midday today (26/12/13) when a First Bus travelling towards Bradford was involved in a collision with three other vehicles. The incident on Manchester Road in Bradford closed the city bound carriageway for around three hours while the scene was dealt with.

Fire crews from Odsal, Cleckheaton and Bradford attended the incident along with specialist Ambulance crews and the Police. Police are investigating the cause of the collision which resulted in 8 casualties along with the driver who was trapped in his bus cab.

 It is clear that at some stage during the incident the bus collided with the central reservation, leaving part of it's bodywork behind.

It was approx 2.00pm when the driver was finally released and transported to hospital by Air Ambulance. The Road has sinced reopened and the scene cleared.

The bus driver who has not been named suffered severe leg injuries in the crash.

Police are investigating the cause of this collision and anyone with information relating to the incident should contact West Yorkshire Police Roads Policing on 101.
