Derelict Nursing Home Fire in Alverthorpe

Fire crews were called to the empty nursing home building on Batley Road, Alverthorpe just after 16:10hrs today. There was a severe fire in the centre of the building with 5 pumping appliances at the scene.

An Aerial Ladder Platform was also sent from Leeds but was not required at the incident. Crews used 3 Large jets and Breathing apparatus sets to tackle the fire.

An investigation is underway into the cause of the fire.
