Leeds Water Rescue..Search for missing man..Police Divers recover body

Fire crews with Ambulance and Police were sent to the scene at Bridge End in Leeds this morning 23/01/14 at around 08:00 to reports of a man believed to have fallen into the River Aire at Leeds Bridge.

The man was said to have last been seen shortly before 8am close to the Riveresque Cafe, at Bridge End.

Fire crews were deployed to search the river around the area the man was last seen and using water sled and poles attempted to find the missing male casualty.

Crews from Leeds, Hunslet, Rothwell and Brighouse attended the scene with their specialist water rescue teams.

Police diving teams have attended the incident from Humberside, the nearest underwater unit to Leeds. Shortly after their arrival a body was recovered from the water.

This location has seen many similar incidents in the past involving rescue services.
