Esholt sewage works waste fire is under control
Crews were called to the sewage works site off Station road at Esholt yesterday afternoon. This was a fire in open but needed 5 pumps to tackle the blaze “ Fire crews were at the incident at the works which were built in 1924 and serve about 700,000 people. Appliances from Shipley, Idle, Rawdon, Cookridge and Stanningley all attended the fire.The blaze in about 800 tonnes of green waste at the water treatment works was today being controlled by firefighters, 24 hours after it started.
Yorkshire Water staff called the fire service yesterday afternoon to the waste water treatment works in Esholt when the mountain of waste caught alight.
Today, firefighters from Shipley and Bingley were damping down at the site.

Garage Fire, Bradford
Firefighters from Bradford and Idle
were called to a blaze that had engulfed a row of garages in an
alleyway on Fitzroy Road at 7.40pm on Saturday. The fire, which is believed to have been started
deliberately, started in one garage but due to dry conditions it soon
spread to another four.

The newest of West Yorkshire Combined Aerial Rescue Pumps was on show at this weekends Blue Light Services annual tri-service show. This appliance should be ready to go on the run at Bradford towards September this year once all the driver training and operational training has been completed Workshop teams have also to complete the stowing of the vehicle. This appliance bodied by Emergency One is one of two, the other for Huddersfield.
